CHRISTMAS SWEETS CONCERT
Sunday December 6, 2009
2:00 AM

The sounds of the season will ring joyfully on Saturday, December 5nd at 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Route 11A in Gilford.

Every year, the venues are packed when Carter Mountain Brass Band presents their annual Christmas Concert, and this year is expected to be no different, so you may wish to pick up tickets early since seating is limited.

Carter Mountain Brass Band is a New Hampshire band comprised of enthusiastic and dedicated area musicians who play cornets, trombones, French horns, flugelhorns, euphoniums, tubas, augmented with percussion and other instruments in special pieces. This eclectic mix of talent hales from all over the state and even into Vermont, and although most of them are not professional musicians, they all have one thing in common: their love of perfecting and performing good brass music. Now in its 11th year, the band has amassed a large repertoire that reflects the rich heritage of brass music that extends as far back as the 1600's and goes as far forward as today's modern music.

Under the direction of conductor John Beyrent, Carter Mountain Brass Band will celebrate the season with a holiday program that's filled with traditional carols and seasonal songs, including "Masters in This Hall", "The Boar’s Head Carol", "A Moravian Christmas Celebration", and "Ave Maria" and many other favorites, as well as some that may be new to the audience. Patsy Tacker will provide holiday readings, stories, anecdotes, to enrich the holiday atmosphere.

Get into the holiday spirit and don't miss out on this opportunity to hear New Hampshire's finest brass playing talent. Carter Mountain Brass Band will be performing "Christmas Sweets” for one night only, so mark your calendars. Tickets for the concert are available at the church and the Sundial Shoppe for $10 per person ($ 5.00 for children 12 and under), and include Black Forest Cake during intermission.
